Using the eraser trick (select the color you want to erase-right click the color you want to use to replace the first one-select the biggest eraser-erase while holding the right mouse button), remove the previous layer. It is suggested that you use a different color for drawing each layer (however, the background color should stay the same!) You also need to right-click on the background color, and when you use the select tool make sure draw opaque is selected so the background will be transparent as long as you keep the image selected. Also, before doing this, make sure your image has enough of workspace all around it, because moving it around would cause problems with aligning layers.īefore copying the previous layer on the new canvas, make sure they both have the same background color.

That's easy! Just open a new canvas! Then go back to the old one, ctrl+A (select all), ctrl+c (copy), go back to the new one, ctrl+v (paste), right click while still holding the image, select crop.
